I just ordered The Constitutionalist by TL Davis.  I read the first chapter online, and decided I needed the entire book. Check out the site, and think about buying a copy. He posts often over at WashingtonReb, among other places.

Regular readers here know that we do not attack specific politicians or members of the Political Class in our columns.

There is no point worrying about a specific grain of sand at the beach.

According to CNN 66,882,230 people went into voting booths and selected President Obama in 2008.

That's the problem, the thinking processes of those voters...not President Obama.  Or Biden.  Or...fill in the blank.

The number of Americans suckling from the teat of Government (that's you and me, folks) is staggering.  Nearly 42 million people take food stamps.  47 million take Medicare.

The five most expensive parts of our national budget are:

1.      Social Security

2.      Medicare

3.      Medicaid

4.      Defense

5.      Interest on the National Debt

Numbers 1, 2 and 3 are wholly unconstitutional and brought to us by Liberals, Collectivists & the Political Class at large. 

Number 5 is wholly a result of numbers 1, 2 and 3!

Not yet on the list: Obamacare.

Once voters realize they can vote themselves money from the Treasury...

Again, the problem is not that people can vote themselves handouts, it is the makeup of the Soul that would permit himself to accept the handout that is the problem in America.  Accepting a charity is not sinful if the need is genuine.

But in America, Government directed charity is gamed not only by the leeches of society, but by the Political Class that uses the handouts as a tool. 

Arguments that I paid into the system, so it's my money are bogus beyond a finite point.  The arithmetic is simple: A man earning $50,000/yr x 20 years pays in (at 7.5% FICA) a total of $75,000.  The employer chips in a matching $75k.  At $1,500/month payout, the money should run out in 100 months...a bit over 8 years.  So, you start taking someone else's money (Your boss') at 4 years 2 months.  At 8 years 4 months, you are into money that neither you, or your productivity, put into the system.

Missing from the numbers above are the millions who are on the Government payroll: Politicians, bureaucrats, LEO, et al.  In many cases this is welfare by a different name, because a significant number of Government employees are incapable of surviving in a merit-based environment with a profit motive.  Just ask any Washington DC resident about the experience of getting a drivers license or a car inspection.

Statistics range from 13-17% (the most widely accepted numbers) regarding the poverty level in America.  So, despite the trillions of dollars that are taken from productive Americans and handed by Government to unproductive Americans by one venue or another, we still have a level of hungry people across the land that is nothing less than a national shame, and criminal.

The answer, as with every social and economic problem confronting the republic, is for the Federal Government to abide the boundaries set by the Constitution and get out of the charity business.  Prior to the days when Government asserted dominion over feeding the hungry, we did not have people dying of hunger in the streets.  Charity from private citizens and groups was far more effective and productive.

Our Masters in Washington approach the Economy the way a music producer approaches a sound board: If we adjust this tax a little here, and give a little tax credit there, and dial down on this fee here, we'll get X results. 

The problem, of course, is that every government tinkerer is as knowledgeable as a village idiot and the economy is a sound board with trillions and trillions of knobs and doohickeys.

The economy is a dynamic and nearly sentient thing, created and changing every moment as billions of people take trillions of economic decisions every day.  In a truly free market the cost of every item would reflect its true value, always.  Without the influence of Government, the costs of living your life would decline by at least half, even if our income taxes remained the same. 

Everything would be cheaper.  Despite the panicked pleas of those who insist the world will stop spinning if Government abandons controls, regulation and oversight, the quality of products would improve.  Research would take a natural course (think space, the final frontier), rather than an artificial course (think AIDS) into areas coerced by Government.

Foreclosuregate could not happen in a truly free market, certainly not to the scale we have today.

And in a truly free America, if anyone tried to pull such a scam, there would be no Government incentive to protect the garbage.

The answer, as in all matters facing the republic, is respect for the Constitution.

But, how do we convince tens of millions of people to stop taking a free ride?  How do we instill a sense of pride and self respect, rather than the mentality that taking is somehow entitled?

Shame doesn't seem to work, anymore.

Excerpt: We have a culture of people whose first response to a physical threat is to dial 911, or worse, a lawyer.  We have a nation of people who will dump hot coffee on themselves, then sue the restaurant – and win!  We have a nation of educators who suspend children for drawing a picture of a handgun or for bringing a Boy Scout knife-and-fork kit to show and tell! 

We have a nation of people so removed from the food chain that many would starve to death if the local supermarket closed.  We have a nation of people who cannot truly grasp the hardships faced by most of the people in the world every day, and as a result we have a nation of people who have lost fundamental common sense.

Excerpt: The Bill of Rights articulates the natural rights of man, rights that are not bestowed by government, but rights that are innately ours as human beings.  These rights may not be taken from us.  These rights were written in plain language so that no clever interpretation and manipulation of the intent was possible.  These rights may not be restricted, narrowed, or infringed.  Any attempt to do so is a violation of the relationship between Man and Creator. 

Every narrowing, restriction, infringement, and clever interpretation imposed upon us in the years since our Constitution was ratified is simply a violation of our natural rights.

We hold that every violation of the Constitution and Bill of Rights by those in Government is an act of Treason, as these violations are unjust, undermining the fundamental foundations of our republic, breaking the pact between citizen and government, and desecrating the relationship between Man and Creator.  Any man or woman who enforces these unconstitutional laws on behalf of government is a treasonous soul and an enemy of Liberty and humanity.

You catch a Federal case.

When you earn real attention from our Masters, you'll know it...usually after it is too late.  Our Masters will tolerate quite a bit from folks, even Patriots who are rabble-rousing.  They really don't care if you are stocking up on rice and beans, even rifles and bullets.  They don't care if you call them names or incite a few misdemeanors.  If you are trying to get their attention and you have not yet caught a Federal case, it's still amateur hour.

It's when you start to have an impact on the flow of dollars that you will earn real interest.  Write a report that negatively impacts the stock value of a few Fortune 50 companies, and you will soon have a genuine understanding of the term Lawfare. 

You may also be schooled on Constructive Possession.

There are many lessons you may be taught.  Now.

You will learn inside baseball details about the US Code that will make you ill. 

The world begins to move very, very quickly. 

You will be faced with stark choices that have never entered your mind, because you think you understand the rules.

Then your options are put on the table: 2 if you take the deal, or 20 if you fight...and we'll add a Conspiracy for your little dog, too...

You will learn that the power of a US Attorney is crushing.

Do not make it easy to take you out of play, Patriot.

And, it is oh, so easy...if they ever decide to do it.

The choice is theirs...not yours.

Do not make the mistake of thinking you are a tough guy just because they have not yet chosen to come for you...
