Would an economic collapse lead the republic to a Second American Civil War?

Given the disgust and hatred between Left and Right in this country, would there be any path to recovery without violence between the ideologies of Collectivists and Constitutionalists?

The question of a complete economic collapse is hardly an academic exercise at this point.  There are many serious men and women who have come to the conclusion that it is not if, but when.  In a recent brief email exchange with Paul Craig Roberts, he expressed little hope for the country. 

Current policies in government, from the most local level to the federal, seem oblivious to common sense and, indeed, designed to take us over the edge and into oblivion for the agenda of the Political Class.  We have permitted this to happen over generations, and it appears to many that it will be our generation that must restore the Constitution, either before or after a collapse.

The collapse of the Soviet Union offers us an invaluable glimpse into our likely future.  You will note that the power of the State merely transitioned as soldiers were left afield with their nuclear missiles and no food or pay.  The KGB became the FSB, but their grip upon the population only strengthened.

In America it will be the response of Government that will set the tone for our next generation.  Patriots do not intend to come to heel when so commanded by a heavy-handed Government.  That sort of thing is not in the nature of a real American.

Will Patriots finally rein in the tolerance that has been afforded to Collectivists for generations, that has led to this state of affairs?  Will Patriots ignore the bleating of terrified, cowardly Liberal Collectivists who demand that we all share what is in our pantry?  Will Patriots go a step further and restore the Founding Principles of the republic at the muzzle of a weapon?  Will some attempt to go too far, to take us into the realm of fascism wrapped in the Constitution?

Will the frustrations accumulated over generations of injury at the hands of Collectivists and their tools be purged by Patriots in a culling of the Liberal herd, making the violence of the Reign of Terror pale in comparison?

Would such a purge of Statists secure the republic for the next 100 years?

If America were suddenly rid of every Liberal Collectivist and Statist, every Conservative who believes in American Imperialism, every member of the Political Class who yearns to be a Master, and every LEO who considers himself to be a member of the Only Ones, would it not be a republic of which Jefferson, and you, would be proud?

Excerpt: There comes a time when civility is no longer appropriate as the only option on the table.  Dare we not offend the sensibilities of Liberals, Socialists, and Communists in our midst who are ruining and destroying our republic?  Are we to cower and sheepishly genuflect when we are scolded for the tone or choice of our words in the face of ruin, poverty, tyranny, and death?!

Excerpt: You are a fool if you do not believe that elements of the Left would use force, if they could, to compel you to comply with many of their edicts.  In drafting healthcare reform, they use the threat of financial fines, felony conviction and prison if you refuse to buy health insurance! 

How is that not only a degree or two removed from a pistol to the head? We are undeniably heading toward the same tyrannies known to Russians, Germans, and the Chinese.  It starts with Liberalism, advances to Socialism, and ends with Fascism, Communism, or some other tyranny…and death.

Excerpt: We have a culture of people whose first response to a physical threat is to dial 911, or worse, a lawyer.  We have a nation of people who will dump hot coffee on themselves, then sue the restaurant – and win!  We have a nation of educators who suspend children for drawing a picture of a handgun or for bringing a Boy Scout knife-and-fork kit to show and tell! 

We have a nation of people so removed from the food chain that many would starve to death if the local supermarket closed.  We have a nation of people who cannot truly grasp the hardships faced by most of the people in the world every day, and as a result we have a nation of people who have lost fundamental common sense.

Excerpt: The Bill of Rights articulates the natural rights of man, rights that are not bestowed by government, but rights that are innately ours as human beings.  These rights may not be taken from us.  These rights were written in plain language so that no clever interpretation and manipulation of the intent was possible.  These rights may not be restricted, narrowed, or infringed.  Any attempt to do so is a violation of the relationship between Man and Creator. 

Every narrowing, restriction, infringement, and clever interpretation imposed upon us in the years since our Constitution was ratified is simply a violation of our natural rights.

We hold that every violation of the Constitution and Bill of Rights by those in Government is an act of Treason, as these violations are unjust, undermining the fundamental foundations of our republic, breaking the pact between citizen and government, and desecrating the relationship between Man and Creator.  Any man or woman who enforces these unconstitutional laws on behalf of government is a treasonous soul and an enemy of Liberty and humanity.

I have enjoyed writing these columns recently.  For me, writing is a very healthy and enjoyable exercise.  As many of you know we use this venue as a platform for upcoming books.  We will be releasing three titles this fall that may be of interest to the Tea Party, III and RTC Communities.

In addition to writing, which doesn't pay many bills, other business ventures are requiring much more of my attention as we head into the fall months.  All of this is to say that new columns here will be less frequently posted until the workload eases a bit.  I hope to post two each week, on each Tuesday and Friday.

We will be launching Patriot Go Bag in the next week or two, a site dedicated to reviews of Patriot gear.
