Impeachment requires the House of Representatives to target a politician, bureaucrat or judge for High Crimes or Misdemeanors, per the Constitution. Vague, there is room for interpretation.

Treason is most certainly a High Crime.

Do we not reach a charge of Treason if the accused has violated his oath to ...support and defend the Constitution...?

I say yes.

Motivating our politicians to pursue such a course requires that the politicians assess the Risk/Reward arithmetic, and conclude that it is in their best interests to move this direction. That is a high bar, and probably not attainable without a paradigm shift in our national predicament.

Such a paradigm shift probably negates the need for us to turn to the House at all...they'll be useless in an environment that shifts sufficiently for them to begin considering Treason, except when looking over their own shoulders for their own actions.

What options remain for the Patriot? How do we get to trials for Impeachment and Treason in our current environment, assuming our current Political Class will have no interest in such pursuits?

I am not a lawyer. I would be very interested in reading a column written by a conservative lawyer regarding any applicable history or precedent for Citizens who bypass the Establishment courts to challenge those protected by politics and bureaucracy to answer for their misdeeds.

Update: Mike emailed an outstanding suggestion that we all press our new local hires to call for Impeachment. He pointed out quite correctly that there would be several benefits to having State legislators push from below the US House, not the least of which would be the grass-roots face the campaign would offer.

Additionally, US Congressmen would be afforded some much-needed political cover as they point to a grass-roots effort that motivates their actions. A new Congressman pushing for Impeachment fresh out of the swearing-in ceremony would be put in a box rather quickly if left out there all alone. But if he had members of his home state legislature calling for Impeachment, supported by petitions from Citizens in his home state, the stakes go up for any Congressman who ignores the will of the people.

And if 50 US Congressmen had the same support from their state legislatures and Citizens, and maybe even a Governor or three...

This approach can only enhance recent States Rights efforts, as well. There is no down-side.

Thanks Mike. I think this idea not only gives those of us who want to stay involved a worthy project, but it also has the potential for actually accomplishing something positive. Let's get our local Tea Party infrastructures cranked up and adding signatures to petitions, and deliver them to your state legislators.

Of course, we have frontier justice remedies. Patriots could kick in the doors of the accused and hold a trial in the front yard. I dare say moral justice would carry the day more often than not, but there would be collateral damage. This isn't the best option until it has begun. Sadly, this course becomes simply a matter of revenge once it has begun, and serves little purpose.

Tar and Feathers as public scolding holds appeal and promise. Modern spray adhesives would avoid the burning of hot tar and the occasional byproduct of fatality. Any Patriot who gets caught for tarring and feathering a guilty party will go to prison. Count on it.

Burning effigies and hanging effigies have little impact today. There was a point in our history when a member of the Political Class would properly interpret an effigy as a shot across the bow, a warning that real punishment was to follow if they persisted in their malfeasance.

Today, our Political Class does not hold any fear that any punishment will become physical.

Our Countrymen have been known to gather at the home of a wayward politician, and burn it to the ground. The potential to hurt family members is too high for this option. Besides, the politician today would probably get a fat check from the insurance company and build a nicer home, this one with a bigger fence.

But I bet it wouldn't be long before insurance companies write an exclusion rider for politicians!

If the question is: How do we get our Political Class to respect the Constitution, I don't know the answer.

I am not sanguine that any answer short of that taken by our Founders can work today. The schoolyard bully never respects the little guy until the little guy surprises him with a chair across the teeth.

Our Political Class has evolved bullying to an art.

They do not hesitate to use violence when it serves their purpose.

Have you ever seen an entire 3rd grade class corner a bully and tell him to lay-off the little guy? Real life doesn't work that way. There will not be a mass uprising in America beyond what we have seen with the Tea Party...and we all see how that is working out so far.

Once in a while the little guy is really a Clark Kent, and he takes the intellectual decision one day to put the bully's elbow in his own ear. More often, the little guy emotionally snaps one day and there is a brawl.

Most often, the little guy keeps his mouth shut and his eyes averted so he doesn't take another embarrassing beating.

Where do Patriots go from here?

It appears obvious that no Patriot is very interested in making a name in the history books as a martyr to the cause by proactively making a run at the republic's traitors.

It is obvious that there will be no mass, non-violent uprising before collapse.

Has the Patriot Community taken the decision, by default, to let the house of cards fall down, and then work toward Restoration in the midst of ruin? I wonder how any Patriot can realistically expect to achieve Restoration in an environment that requires nearly total focus on feeding and defending the family, when we can't even get close in today's environment of plentiful food, shelter, warmth and ammo?

What is your plan in these final days that we know as normal, and what is your plan for the days after?

Is there any point even trying to hold people responsible for the ruin they are bringing to the republic, either today or after?

What of those useful idiots who are helping to murder the republic? Are they untouchable?

They really don't care if you are stocking up on rice and beans, even rifles and bullets. They don't care if you call them names or incite a few misdemeanors or send them snarky little letters. If you are trying to get their attention and you have not yet caught a Federal case, it's still amateur hour...or maybe you are valuable to them...

It's when you start to have an impact on the flow of dollars that you will earn real interest. Write a report that negatively impacts the stock value of a few Fortune 50 companies, and you will soon have a genuine understanding of the term Lawfare.

Truth, Justice & the American Way?

Not so much.

The DOJ conviction rate is 95% in a bad year, and pushes above 98% according to some stats. The deck is not only stacked in their favor, they own the deck. And the card table. And the casino. Do you understand?

Can you name any Federal bureaucracy that runs at a minimum 95% efficiency rate? What does that tell you?

Do not make the mistake of thinking that you intimidate them just because they have not yet chosen to come for you...

The Point: If you are trying to incite Big Brother to notice you, go for it! But, man up and roll bigger dice.

If you would prefer to make your preparations for it with relative impunity, just go about your business and avoid taking actions that will make it easy for Them to take you out of play, and do not give them a reason to take you out of play. Don't telegraph about the details of your preparations or defensive measures. Don't put a pistol in your belt, against your local laws, unless you are willing to use it when LEO spots you in the convenience store. Avoid gratuitous violence.

Do not draw hyperbolic lines in the sand. When you draw lines in the sand that you do not defend, it reveals you for what you are deep in your Soul...and some of that bad energy splatters on us, too.

There will be plenty of opportunities for a fight, if you want one, soon enough. Be smart, stay off the radar, so that any fight you engage will be on your terms.

Following the counsel of idiots and hollow heroes regarding SHTF circumstances will get you dead...and if you can't tell the difference between serious men and hot-air machines, you're already half way to a mass grave.
