It is the Constitution, including the Bill of Rights.  Please throw the Declaration of Independence in there for good measure.

It has been a very long time in America since we followed the words of the Constitution and Bill of Rights.  Instead, we have permitted Lawyers, Judges, Liberals and Collectivists to tell us what the words mean, no matter what the actual written words may be.

Look to any and every social, economic and political problem in America today, and you can trace the roots of the problem to our having strayed from the words of the Constitution.

Much of the intangible quality that defines the Tea Party today is that this group of Americans, many of whom have been apolitical, have started to read the Constitution and challenge the interpretations that have been used to pervert the nature of the republic by those who would be our Masters.

People who otherwise just go along to get along have taken pause in objection to HealthCare Reform and challenged our Political Class to demonstrate whence comes the authority to meddle in health care.  Of course, many of us who have been politically aware and active have long pointed out that most of what Government does is baseless in regard to authority.  But now, we have a greater audience.

Article I, Section 8 of the Constitution details the powers the Congress possesses...they are specific and limited.  Article 1, Section 9 details a few things that Congress is specifically denied.  Of course, the Bill of Rights represents a series of Rights of the People that are inviolate.

Patriots are aware of these facts and arguments.  This column is not for the newbie, so we will not break down the arguments for those newly awakened.

How does the Patriot use this knowledge to help restore the republic to her ideals?

Most Patriots have resigned themselves to the conclusion that there will be some event that triggers mass unrest across the nation.  Whether the event is an economic collapse or a sudden disarmament movement, the event is only a tangential detail.  The important point is that Patriots will be forced to gear up and be prepared for violence, and they will push through the ruckus and try to establish a better future for the republic going forward.

But what does a better future mean, exactly?

If there is a nationwide ruckus that brings about a fresh start for our political system, what does that new system look like?  Across the III, RTC, Tea Party blogs we see calls for a wide range of solutions, including a restoration of the Constitution (which means many things to many people), a return to the Articles of Confederation, secession, and more.

If Patriots must soon engage in a fight for the republic (many seem anxious and eager for such a fight), what is the End Game?  What constitutes victory and an end to hostilities?  Who, exactly, are the enemies you expect to engage, and who are the enemies that you intend to hunt? As any military professional will tell you, you need to know the end of the story before you ever pull the trigger.

Howling about nefarious Judicial Activism does not get the Patriot Movement a single step closer to our Founding Principles.  Complaining about an undefined/unidentified segment of society labeled Collectivists does not explain how to marginalize these people as society is restructured.

Growling on blogs about how you will not yield one more inch, or one more of your gun rights, then letting LEO have your pistol during a traffic stop makes you a pathetic joke, not a Leader worthy of serious consideration.  Hyperbolic proclamations about what you will do to any Alphabet Agency team making a dynamic entry to your home is hardly helpful to the Patriot cause.

Instead, consider the ugly mechanics of succeeding in an effort to restore the Constitutional principles as articulated in the document.  There are about 800,000 badges and guns in the nation, most of which will actively challenge the Patriots who take the field with rifles and go bags.  What is your plan for these people?  There are about one hundred million Americans who generally agree with the Collectivist approach to society.  What is your plan for these people? 

Many Patriots suspect Government has very dark intentions, including camps and disappearing for those who advocate Constitutional restoration.  What is your plan to deal with those Americans who disagree with you, who insist on implementing Collectivist policies?  Camps?  Prison?  Deportation?  Mass disappearances?

Would it not be more prudent for the Patriot to put some real mental energy into resolving the nuts and bolts of restoration, rather than merely boisterous promises of impending action?

Begin by reading the words of the Constitution and Bill of Rights, then try to justify the actions that may be necessary to achieve a restoration.

Restoration will not be a nine-to-five exercise, with a comfortable recliner and cable television every evening.

Excerpt: We have a culture of people whose first response to a physical threat is to dial 911, or worse, a lawyer.  We have a nation of people who will dump hot coffee on themselves, then sue the restaurant – and win!  We have a nation of educators who suspend children for drawing a picture of a handgun or for bringing a Boy Scout knife-and-fork kit to show and tell! 

We have a nation of people so removed from the food chain that many would starve to death if the local supermarket closed.  We have a nation of people who cannot truly grasp the hardships faced by most of the people in the world every day, and as a result we have a nation of people who have lost fundamental common sense.

Excerpt: The Bill of Rights articulates the natural rights of man, rights that are not bestowed by government, but rights that are innately ours as human beings.  These rights may not be taken from us.  These rights were written in plain language so that no clever interpretation and manipulation of the intent was possible.  These rights may not be restricted, narrowed, or infringed.  Any attempt to do so is a violation of the relationship between Man and Creator. 

Every narrowing, restriction, infringement, and clever interpretation imposed upon us in the years since our Constitution was ratified is simply a violation of our natural rights.

We hold that every violation of the Constitution and Bill of Rights by those in Government is an act of Treason, as these violations are unjust, undermining the fundamental foundations of our republic, breaking the pact between citizen and government, and desecrating the relationship between Man and Creator.  Any man or woman who enforces these unconstitutional laws on behalf of government is a treasonous soul and an enemy of Liberty and humanity.
